A temple sealing day is sacred, joyful and usually moves quickly. A little planning makes the photos on the temple grounds feel relaxed instead of rushed. Here’s the simple approach I use with my couples.
Before the day
Make a family photo list. Write down the groups you want, starting with the biggest (everyone) and ending with the smallest (just parents). Share it with me ahead of time and choose one organized family member to help gather people.
Tell guests where to go. After a sealing, family members come out at different times. Let everyone know where to wait on the grounds so we can start as soon as you walk out.
Check the temple’s current guidelines. Each temple sets its own schedule and rules for the grounds. Photography isn’t permitted inside the temple, so all of our photos happen outside.
On the grounds
- The walk out. I’m waiting when you come out as a married couple. It’s one of my favorite moments of the whole day.
- Family groups. We move through your list calmly and efficiently. Grandparents appreciate a quick, organized group photo!
- Portraits of the two of you. Once family is finished, we explore the grounds for portraits.
Planning more than the sealing?
If you’re also having a ring ceremony, luncheon or reception, my all-day wedding coverage includes all of it, with no time limits.
Have questions about your temple and timing? Send me a note. I’m always happy to help you plan.
